Presidential awards

Gaisce Presidential Awards, Eoin Kenny,


Filming in maynooth today and tomorrow for the presidents awards, live show will be up asap, have had trouble with the upload!! This is Eoin Kenny, he partook in the GAISCE Presidential Awards and as a consequence learned to play the cello as on of his extra curricular activities, we filmed him playing a piece and the editor working on it is going to intercut it with the interview, should make for a really nice piece when its finished, cant wait!

finely finished the filming of some soon to be recipients of the GAISCE Presidential award for those of you that dont know, Gaisce President's Award is Ireland's National Challenge Award for young people, the country's most prestigious and respected individual Award programme. It is a challenge from the President of Ireland to the young people of Ireland. editing has commence on the sho peices, looking forward to there completion, stay tuned to this blog for the finished products!!!!

Presidential awards

Another really good day if filming in maynooth and dublin, filming in farmleigh house and pheonix park tomorrow, looking forward to the edits!! The Irish Prime minister is going to be there tomorrow so hoping to get a little piece of an interview with him, meeting some amazing people along the way also, tomorrow we'll be at the home coming for the irish par-olympian team, should be really good!

In this vt from street life  we caught up with the crew from "flava floors" in cork where they told us about their dance studio and how this growing culture is being embraced by the youth of the city, The talk about their dance studio in depth and the following that its accruing by the youth of the city, they hold weekly classes on break-dancing. They attract a very young demographic and the classes are mainly made up of 16-19 year olds, the level of break-dancing that their at is highly impressive! check it out!!!

He talks about the origeons of hip-hop from is beginning in the Jamaican Reggea sound systems and how it came about from some clever DJ's spinning the record back to the beat! check it out!!

In this segment of street life we caught up up with Adam O'Connor and talked to him about what its like being a graffiti artist in Cork City. He talks about the history of Graffiti from the "taggers" and "Bombers" that began in New York to its continued growth today, he also talks about the bad rep its got and puts a positive take on it, we also see him produce a piece of graffiti, scull and cross bones. He talks about the prejudices that exist but generally that he's accepted by and large by society in Cork, he also talks about "flava floors" a break-dancing studio he's set up where they teach break-dancing and also where he teaches graffiti writing, really interesting piece, have a look!
